FAQs about Fresh Red & Green Chilli Chutneys Combo
It is a duo of two authentic, hand-pounded Maharashtrian thechas — the fiery Varhadi Red Chilli Chutney from Vidarbha and the bold Kolhapuri Green Chilli Chutney from western Maharashtra. Both are made from fresh chillies with no preservatives or artificial additives.
The combo includes the intensely spicy Varhadi Red Chilli Thecha — a fiery paste of hand-pounded red chillies and garlic — and the Kolhapuri Green Chilli Thecha, a rustic crush of green chillies, garlic, cumin, and coriander.
The Red Chilli Thecha originates from Vidarbha's farming heartland, where farmers eat Zunka Bhakri Thecha as their daily meal. The Green Chilli Thecha is based on a generations-old family recipe from Gargoti village in Kolhapur.
The Red Chilli Thecha is crafted by Sampurna SHG, a group of 10 spirited women from Wayfad village in Wardha. The Green Chilli Thecha is made by Hemalata Kamble and her mother Anusaya from Mumbai, carrying their Kolhapuri culinary legacy.
The Red Chilli Thecha is significantly more intense and fiery, while the Green Chilli Thecha is medium-spicy with a tangy, more balanced heat. Together they cater to a range of spice preferences.
Both chutneys are rich in Vitamin C from fresh chillies, which supports immunity and metabolism. The generous garlic content in both also provides natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Both pair beautifully with roti, bhakri, dal rice, poha, idli and dosa. The Green Thecha also doubles as an excellent marinade for grilled meats, paneer and fish.
Yes — both work brilliantly stirred into curries, stir-fries, noodles, and pasta for an instant flavour and heat boost. Customers consistently use them as a daily ginger-garlic paste substitute.
Yes — buying both thechas together as a combo offers a saving compared to purchasing them separately. It is also a practical way to always have both flavour profiles stocked in your pantry.
Refrigerate after opening and always use a clean, dry spoon to maintain freshness. They are best consumed within 3 months of opening.
